KCBD -76 Wrap Up  nucrash [Tue 6-17-2008]

Another stellar event has passed us by.  Some rookie came by and snagged the Core 2 Extreme processor even after an Organizer tried to stack the odds in his favor.  I guess that goes to show all that Karma favors some.

We were happy to move the event to the 14th to accommodate those who decided to go to Rockfest.  Although I know that some of you who asked for the move didn't show up.  I know who you are and would single you out to embarrass you, but after sleep and much convincing, I decided not to plaster your names all over the web.  I want to say thanks to everyone who attended KCBD 75 and hopefully, just hopefully we can pack KCBD 77.

Our next event returns us back to our normal 6 week schedule so we will be holding our event on the 19th of July again at our Independence location.  The Game Cafe has treated us very well and we would like everyone who also dabbles in those non-computer games to drop by as well.

I may have left more out, but check the forums or here for updates.

My computer can frag your computer.

 KCBD 76 - June 14th, 2008, Rockfest - June 7th  nucrash [Thu 5-8-2008]

In Celebration of Flag day and because Rockfest is on June 7th and because we really love Johnny Dare and his morning show, we would love to see everyone attend both events.  So if you haven't bought your Rockfest tickets yet, what the hell are you waiting on?  If you haven't been to KC Beatdown at the Game Cafe in Independence; again, what the hell are you waiting on?

Registration for our event is still down, so just show up and and we will take care of the rest and if we get too many of you, well I guess we are doing our job. So From 12pm to 6am, on June 14th, get your game on, and if you haven't checked out RockFestKC.com for details about the biggest single day event, do so.

Hope to see you at both places.

KCBD 75 Came and Gone  nucrash [Mon 4-28-2008]

Another fantastic event for the record books.  Just when a few of us had doubts about turn out, the Home Brew computing club graced us with their presence and walked away with most of our  prizes.  Thankfully Kagato was there to walk off with the grand prize of a Intel Core 2 Extreme.  Also a much needed upgrade for him as he was still trying to be faithful to AMD.

Attendance was on par for the event, but I did see a few new faces, so perhaps we will see some more growth.  The guys are planning to get some more in store for the next event and even more in store for the future of KCBD.

Stay tuned to the forums for any changes in the date of next event as Rockfest might be in the way, which means a few of you need to speak up in there and tell us what you want.

Sincerely
-nucrash

KCBD 75 - More Gaming Goodness  nucrash [Wed 4-9-2008]

Once again I would like to say KCBD is back and we are prepping to kick off our second event at the new location.

We will have another Core 2 Extreme Processor Giveaway, so bring everyone one you know who might want an Intel Processor. We might have some other give aways as well.  I am up for some tourney gaming if we can get a nice prize on the line.  If you want a tourney, post in the forums about your idea and we will go from there.

Avoid the location link on the side for right now, try here:

Hope to see many many people at the event.

April Fools-KCBD - ELKC Merger - April Fools  nucrash [Tue 4-1-2008]

I happy to announce that after serveral long months of discussion, the organizers of KCBD have decided that it would be in the best interest of the party to merge with ELKC.  This is to better serve you the gamer by providing a much bigger party at a much better location.  As of this announcement April 26th will be our last "KCBD" Event.  With this move ELKC and KCBD will become the KC Professional World of Networked Electronic Devices or KC PWNED.

Happy April Fool's Day Everyone

Check inside for the forum reactions.

Sincerely

My Apologies to Best Buy and the Geek Squad - Our sponsors  nucrash [Sat 3-22-2008]

I recall something about getting some prizes that we gave away for our event were donated to us from Best Buy.  I remember something about this, but for some reason or another, I didn't get the memo about what was donated and I wasn't paying attention to who won these prizes, but I think I might have been one of those people which makes me even a sadder excuse for an organizer.

But if Best Buy did donate KCBD a Universal USB Converter that will support up to 3 players included a Game Cube, XBox and PS2 Controllers, which I happened to win at this last Beatdown, I would like to thank Best Buy for that donation and would like to announce that I will be using this device as soon as I get a controller for an XBox, PS2, or Game Cube.

I would also like to thank Best Buy for the other gifts which we gave away to various people, but I do not have a recollection of at this time.  I will be sure to update this post to give Best Buy appropriate credit for their donations from Best Buy.

Stay tuned for other updates about Best Buy on the front page as I try not to stumble over myself any further. Best Buy.

KCBD 75 - April 26th - Game Cafe in Independence  nucrash [Fri 3-21-2008]

KCBD 74 was a success.  The event was there, we had 20+ peeps and no fatalities as of yet.  The location is a little out of the way, but for some of us who come from far and away, the gaming was worth it.  ZeWolf, I know your pain all to well, that and you won a Core 2 Extreme processor so meh!  I can't tell you when exactly the event closed down, but I remember getting home at 8:30 in the morning, which means it wasn't a midnight and shutdown ordeal.  Next event, be sure to welcome Spadge as our newest organizer/grunt who does a excellent job at clean up and tear down.

We have KCBD 75 on tap and it looks to be another great time.   We happen to have yet another Core 2 Extreme processor donated by Gruntville.com for a grand prize give away. Chances to up your odds for the giveaway are available.  Other items are in the works to improve your gaming experience.  For those attendees who want an upgrade to the pop situation, congratulations, we now have Fountain Drinks available, at least until midnight.  More give-aways, more gaming, even a couple of PS3s and a Nintendo Wii was there for your enjoyment.

Hope to see and hear you at the next event, but if I smell you, we might have issues.

To all the KCBD faithful  nucrash [Fri 2-29-2008]

Thank you for those of you who haven't given up faith in the oldest and best LAN Party in KC.

The event is in the works and hopefully to be held in the very near future, but I need help from all of you who still are out there and want to restore KCBD to her former glory.  I need all of you to spread the word that we are back and that we have facilities and will soon have an event.  Be sure to mention all of those good times we had over the years, those crazy mods that many of us brought by.  All of those tournaments that we had and all of those prizes that we gave away.

I think many of us want that back, we get busy in our daily lives and just need to blow something up.

UPDATE 3-10-2008  Gruntville.com will be giving away an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 (Extreme Edition) Processor.  For those of you Gigahertz junkies out there, that is an unlocked processor.  Have fun pushing frame rates with that bad boy.  Intel Core 2 Extreme Edition processor to be given away.
